Cottonwoodz Zephyr
Zephyr's presence has been a long anticipated step in the foundation of my kennel, She is a wolfdog produced by Dora Simpson of Cottonwoodz Kennel in Texas, born April 8th 2020. She enjoys bikejoring recreationally with me. She is 29in tall and 79lbs.
Zephyr lives indoors with access to a 6ft fenced backyard, with a secure run or crate for when I'm not home. She is crate trained, quick to potty train, and has proven to be very respetful & non destructive with household items and furniture. She is also fully off-leash trained for hiking and camping. Zephyr enjoys sleeping in the bed at night to cuddle, but sometimes will sleep in the crate for a refresher. She has traveled more than 10,00 miles on road trips with me during her first year of life, living in a van or truck for days at a time on the road for cross country drives.
She is aloof with strangers, but isn't skittish of them. When in public, she will often ignore them unless they have food. When introducing her to people in the yard, she will greet them and allow them to pet her for a while, and then wander off to do something else. Zephyr was raised during the COVID-19 quarantine/shutdown, so some situations weren't socialized to, such as guests inside the home or large crowds. When she's nervous about a guest inside, she will keep an eye on them as she goes about her business, and will settle and lay down after about 10 minutes once she grows accustomed to their presence.
She is safe to handle around high value items, with no resource guarding. She is very dog social with great communication skills, and even gets along well with other female dogs outside of breeding season. She experiences no seasonal aggression or moodiness during winter with people and is safe to handle and live with year round without much changes in management other than around other female dogs.
Zephyr doesn't have any issues with gunfire, fireworks, and other loud sudden noises. She recovers very quickly if startled by something, and is curious to approach and investigate new items. She has a low to moderate prey drive. She is playful and will bow and wag her tail at livestock like goats, politely ignore cats, but will chase rabbits or other small animals.
